Creo Mold Analysis Introduction
This course is designed for Creo users who want to quickly assess the mouldability and quality of their designs, discovering opportunities for improvement and driving better results earlier in the design process.
Description
This one-day course combines an introduction to injection moulding design principles with hands-on workshops, including sessions using Creo Mold Analysis (CMA). The basics of injection moulding simulation will be covered, with a focus on using CMA to assess a part's mouldability and identify potential defects. CMA is a fast and effective tool for generating initial results and comparing design iterations, giving design engineers a solid starting point for evaluating gating locations and key performance indicators. Upon completion of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of basic injection moulding principles and the core features of CMA. They will be able to use CMA to evaluate part designs directly within the Creo environment.
Agenda
Module 1 – Background & Basic Theory The injection moulding process will be covered, focusing on factors that affect part quality. This includes common part defects like shrinkage and warpage, as well as how plastic flow impacts moulding. The module also covers polymer materials, tooling, processing conditions, and failures that can occur during service.
Module 2 – Creo Mold Analysis Overview An overview of Creo Mold Analysis (CMA) within the context of injection moulding simulation. The focus is on its main benefits, features, and interface.
Module 3 – Model Setup & Process Conditions A hands-on workshop guides participants through material selection, gate creation, and setting process conditions for analysis, followed by a practical exercise to reinforce these skills
Module 4 – Results Interpretation Focuses on interpreting the results from the workshop, with emphasis on moulding defects that can affect part quality. Participants will also explore the visualisation tools available in CMA to support their analysis.
Module 5 – Design Studies Covers the assessment and comparison of gating and design options, providing a detailed evaluation of their impact on part quality.
Module 6 – Advanced Moulding Simulation Examines the limitations of CMA and introduces advanced moulding simulation tools, such as Moldex3D SYNC and Moldex3D, showcasing additional capabilities for enhanced analysis.
